2018 SUMMER CAMP for INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL STUDENTS
Holidays are around the corner! We have lined up a series of exciting and stimulating holiday activities just for the international school students to engage students to the fullest during the holidays.
Our action-packed courses, from our latest Synergistic STEM (S-STEM) camp to gifted programme camp, are all designed with our high-ability learners in mind, ensuring that they are engaged meaningfully throughout the break, so don’t miss it!
Gifted Camps
Olympiad Math and Science Camp (7-9 Years Old)
Learning Objectives:
Develops critical thinking skills to prepare students for future Olympiad math and science competitions and high ability tests. The camp focuses on problem-solving skills and includes a strong combination of both IQ Math and Science components to engage students in a holistic learning environment.
High Ability IB/IGCSE Math Camp (10-13 Years Old)
Learning Objectives:
Aims to stretch student’s thinking abilities, to expose them to complex solving skills and they will acquire knowledge beyond their regular school curriculum. Preparation for AEIS test, excel in Johns Hopkins CTY test, prepare for International Olympiad Math competitions, SCAT tests.
STEM Camps by R2D2 Lab
STEM is Fun! Camp
Learning Objectives:
The camp features synergistic STEM curriculum designed by R2D2 Lab. A project-based learning journey will guide student to explore scientific knowledge fields, understand current technologies, train their engineering skills by prototyping and improve their problem-solving skills by debugging and testing.
In this camp, students will learn science knowledge such as electricity, electric circuits, sound & light, environment sensing, etc. Meanwhile, students will learn the coding skills using block based Arduino programming, which serves as the entry point to the journey of Makers. At the end of the camp, students will utilize the knowledge they learn in the class and prototype a guard system to protect the treasures stored in a secret room.
Targeted audience: This camp is most suitable for students between 9-11 years old.
Prerequisite: None, but prior programming skills will help.
Junior Maker-1 Camp (Arduino Basics)
Learning Objectives:
Arduino platform is flexible, easy-to-use and inexpensive for everyone who is interested in Making, and it has been extensively used in lots of prototyping projects. This camp will guide students to explore the powerful C programming language that has been widely used to develop all kinds of smart devices and IoT products. Students will program in the Arduino Integrated Development Environment (IDE), build electrical circuits, handling sensors and realize functional prototypes. After this camp, students will be equipped with enough knowledge and skills to start exploration of the world of Making.
Targeted audience: This camp is more suitable for students of age 10 and above.
Prerequisite: Prior skills in programming and coding
Junior Maker-2 Camp (Micro:bit)
Learning Objectives:
Do you want to build an electronic toy in 4 days? Do you want to learn programming while building the story? If yes, this Junior Maker camp is definitely for you! By tapping into the new Micro:bit platform, students will learn to think critically by understanding and creating conditional branches, to think mathematically by creating animation effects and learn new technologies by using on-board accelerometer and compass. This camp is the beginning of a learning-by-doing journey that your children will want to embark on again and again.
Targeted audience: This camp is more suitable for students of age 10 and above.
Prerequisite: None, but prior graphic programming knowledge such as Scratch or equivalent will help.
Junior Robot Camp
Learning Objectives:
This camp serves as an entry course for students to step into the world of robotics. In this camp, students will understand the fundamental ideas about robotics and programming and, by experimenting, understand how robot motion is realized. Other than programming in graphic interface to control robot motion, a unique way for robot motion control, Teach-Record-Repeat, will be taught was well. This method is commonly seen in actual industrial robots operation.
Targeted audience: This camp is most suitable for students between 7-9 years old
Prerequisite: None
Junior Programmer-1 Camp (Scratch)
Learning Objectives:
This camp serves as an entry course for students without any programming exposure. In this camp, students will understand the fundamental ideas about computers and programming, and develop some basic problem-solving and project design skills.
Targeted audience: This camp is most suitable for students between 7-9 years old without prior programming knowledge.
Prerequisite: None
